Visitors in unprecedented numbers flock to the “Land of Fire and Ice” called so because of the country’s location on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates meet to create some of the world’s most active volcanos and the largest glaciers left in Europe.

After the economic meltdown in 2008, the blossoming tourism industry has played a pivotal role in the country’s gradual economic recovery. Tourism has overtaken fishing in economic value and accounts for 45 per cent of all new jobs created since 2010.

Inspired by Natureis indeed the slogan that greets visitors arriving at Keflavík Airport (KEF).

The number of tourists visiting Iceland hasincreased by more than 30 per centfrom 2015 to 2016. As the country’s economy gains in strength, Icelanders, too, are once again travelling. Airlines are continuing to introduce new routes to Keflavík Airport, and there is no sign of slowing down.
